Peugeot Disaster

On May 4, 2024, I had an accident and left my car at Istanbul Büyükçekmece Çetaş authorized service center on May 8, 2024 (I had left it at their parking lot on the day of the accident, but this date is the official entry date in the records).

According to information from the service, body repairs were completed on May 30, 2024. (I learned this on July 31, 2024; until then, I thought my car was still under repair.)

We had reached July 2024, but my car still had not been delivered. On July 23, 2024, I asked Peugeot why my car’s repair was still not completed.

I specifically pointed out that the delay was abnormal and requested to know the reason.

Around July 25, 2024, I received a phone call, informing me that the process could be delayed for various reasons, but that it was still “normal” (!). They mentioned that things like damage assessment, insurance approval, and waiting for parts from abroad if necessary, could delay the process.

(Peugeot either doesn’t know the status of a car at their own authorized service center or is giving incorrect information. I don’t know if it’s worse for them to be unaware of their own service or to lie to their customers.)

On July 29, 2024, I sent Peugeot Turkey the Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 and the After-Sales Services Regulation. I explained that exceeding the 45-day repair period specified in the regulation was against the law and that if they want to operate and profit in the Republic of Turkey, they should abide by this country’s laws. (They didn’t understand.) I also shared this complaint with Peugeot managers outside Turkey. Finally, on August 6, 2024, quite late, they provided a replacement vehicle.

On August 29, 2024, I received my car back. (By the way, two screws were missing on the rear fender, and the part was not properly fitted. I had to go back to the service, but this detail is almost insignificant compared to everything else I experienced.)

The reason for my long wait was, supposedly, a technical issue with my car’s LED headlight, and the new part didn’t fit properly.

A brand that couldn’t replace a single LED headlight in three months (yes, three!) now plans to produce an electric vehicle, but their technical standards and after-sales services are barely adequate for a steam car.

After all these ordeals, I expected a representative from Peugeot Turkey to come forward and apologize, show regret, and feel embarrassed by this disgrace. But, unfortunately, that didn’t happen. So, I decided to create this website to share my experience. I will also share any future legal processes here. And if you’ve experienced similar mistreatment, let me know, and I’ll gladly publish it here.
